This page is all about encouraging Christians to have devotions that affect daily living. We will not be teaching new truths but teaching how to live truths already known. Truth should not be attached to life (devotions in the morning) but woven into the fabric of life (all the time and in every place). Processing truth into life is what the great commission is all about (“teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you” ) (Matthew 28:20a). The process involves Knowledge, Understanding, Wisdom, and Doing. Any exposure to God’s Word should involve those four steps. In the material we offer in this section we will identify the four steps in the process as .. Recall, Restate, Relate, and Realize.
You will be encouraged to take one portion of scripture and Recall (read and recite), Restate (put into your own words without changing the meaning), Relate (state how it fits into your life), and Realize (state how you lived that truth). Remember that “the word preached did not profit them not being mixed with faith in them that heard it” (Hebrews 4:2b).
In baseball baserunning is only fruitful when you reach home. All other bases are important but without profit until you reach home. Likewise, all stages of the Biblical Living process are important but not with profit until the “realize” or “do” stage is reached. Note that we have labelled each stage as though they are bases to reach.
Study the following example of taking a potion of scripture through the entire Biblical Living Process. We will guide you through a new verse at least once each week. Live out these verses in all areas of life at all times.
Scripture: I Thessalonians 5:18;
RECALL” In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”
RESTATE: Think of a container labeled with specific situations including rejection, loneliness, false accusation , etc. I am in that container. God’s will is that I give thanks while I am in that situation not just if He gets me out of there. If I complain anytime anywhere I am out of the will of God. RELATE; (Plan to live scripture on purpose. Don”t wait for it to happen) I will give thanks ten times in various places and times including in sports, at work and home.(add your plan):………………………………………………………………………………
REALIZE (This is a testimony of your obedience …how this verse became a reality in your life.
